Choosing the Right Paid (or Unpaid) Job Service

By Gayle Buske, President and CEO, Team Double-Click® and VirtualAssistingUSA

• Do your homework – be sure the site is not just pulling job postings from other sites and placing them on their own. In this case, you don’t stand much of a chance at winning the business because the client or employer is so bombarded with responses. *Case in point – Team Double-Click® placed ONE job posting and received over 1,000 responses!
• Check around to see if the site will stand behind you if the client you locate on their site decides to take a hike before he pays his bill. When I say stand behind you, I mean do they do more than simply send them a nasty gram?
• How many job postings are there? Does the site have an ample supply of job postings to choose from? Again, don’t discount a site simply because they don’t have a lot. Sometimes these sites can be gems because other people have the same reaction as you:

“Aw, there’s not much here, I’ll go somewhere else.”

• Think quality – not quantity. If others have the above reaction, that’s good for you – it means your competition just backed off a notch. Is the site easy to maneuver? A no-brainer. If you can’t get around, the client probably can’t either and they’ll go away. Are you allowed direct contact with the client? This is a biggie. You want that direct contact so you can show that client how you can shine!
